Description of the accommodation

Copperfield House is a modern, spacious family home overlooking the river meadows. Run by Fran Brown it offers non-smoking accommodation for up to five people in either an ensuite double room or a twin/triple bedded room with private bathroom.

Set overlooking river meadows in the village of Wilton, just a stones throw from the busy market town of Ross-on-Wye which lies approximately a half a mile away across the river Wye.

We can cater for special diets, babies and we have drying facilities for those caught out by the English weather!

There is off street parking and guests are welcome to use our conservatory and garden for relaxing after a busy day’s sight-seeing!

Other info

Local amenities include a shop and garage with the benefit of several good restaurants all within 5 minutes walking distance.

A wider choice may be found at nearby Ross-on-Wye town which is a 20 minute walk or 5 minute drive.

We are ideally located for the Wye Valley, Forest of Dean, and the Wye Valley Walk, which passes within 300 yards of our home.

What to do in and around Ross on Wye

Known as an area of outstanding natural beauty, there is much to see and do locally.

Water Activities
The River Wye is popular for coarse fishing. You can hire a canoe or take a boat ride along the Wye.
The River Wye is popular for walking along in a summers evening. Walk the sculpture trail or one of the many other trails in the Forest of Dean.
The Malvern hills are less than 30 minutes away by car.
Explore the many castles in the area including our local Wilton Castle.
Mountain Biking
The Forest of Dean is the ideal place to ride a bike, either bring your own, which we can store safely or hire them from peddleabikeaway situated in the forest. There are family trails or more taxing rides for the more adventurous.
Whilst you are here why not take a day out in Wales to savour other biking trails?
We can recommend local restaurants, we’ve tried a lot of them!
Wilton has some excellent restaurants and more choice in Ross town centre which is a five minute drive away. We will happily book a table, arrange a taxi for you.
Symonds Yat
A very popular destination for bird watchers, climbers and walkers. Look over the valley and hope to catch a glimpse of the resident Peregrine Falcons. Take a walk around the woods or enjoy a cuppa at the cafe.
The International Centre for Birds of Prey nr Newent has a plethora of bird species in its care. Take in a live show to see how theses birds hunt. If you have more time they run Falconry courses and half or whole day experiences in bird handling.
Historic buildings
There are several castles within easy distance, you can walk to Wilton Castle in a few minutes. Goodrich, Raglin and Eastnor Castles are a short drive away. If you prefer old houses why not visit Hellens Manor in Much Marcle.
Festivals or popular events
Locally are Ledbury Poetry Festival, the Big Apple, Steam Rally, Hellens Garden Festival, Linton Music Festival and Newent Onion Festival.
